What does it mean to be truly inspirational?
We might be inspired by people in the public eye – athletes, successful businesspeople, celebrities – but often, the most inspiring people are “ordinary” people who show great courage and achieve extraordinary things when faced with challenges that seem insurmountable.
One such “ordinary person doing extraordinary things” is Nathan Jones. Formerly a competitive cyclist and triathlete, Nathan was diagnosed with Stage 3A melanoma in March 2012. Nathan’s doctors surgically removed 17 lymph nodes to treat the melanoma but the cancer spread to other parts of his body, developing into brain and bowel tumours that were discovered in October 2012. Despite these incredible challenges, Nathan continues his courageous fight against cancer with the support of his family. Remarkably, Nathan has transitioned back into full-time work as an educator and is training for this year’s 10 km at the Melbourne Marathon. We are proud to have Nathan Jones presenting his inspirational story at our next Inspire Fitness seminar (non-members welcome!).
