Achieving your goals: A positive approach for your journey!

Achieving your goals doesn’t have to be daunting. Here are a few thoughts to remember as you strive towards your goals this year.

The New Year is now under way and it’s critical to start the year by getting clear on your goals. Take time away from your schedule to sit down and write down your goals. What actions do you need to take this year to achieve your goals? Do you believe you will achieve these goals?

The following video (below) represents how a goal is a journey, which is only reached by taking a number of smaller steps.

It is important to remember to enjoy the journey, not just the end result. For example, if you’re creating a piece of pottery for the first time, take pleasure in and learn from the process, not just the finished (perhaps miss-shapen) masterpiece. Your journey will take time but every step counts.

The second video (below) explores an interesting idea, by summarising the impact of happiness on reaching your goals.

What emotions did you feel when you set your goals this year? What emotions are you feeling towards them now? Have your goals or emotions changed? Achieving your goals can be challenging, rise up to the challenge and thrive through happiness.

Of course, setting a goal is only the starting point of your journey. The next step after creating a smart goal is to create a plan, as “a goal without a plan is just a wish” – Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

So, whatever your goals this year, plan well, take action – only you can reach YOUR goals, embrace the journey, celebrate your achievements along the way, good luck & go get it!
